Color week

Hello everyone! We has a wonderful second week of school. This week we focused on colors. We learned the difference between primary and secondary colors. We started the week with a science experiment to see how primary colors turn into secondary colors.
This first picture is what the cups looked like when we started the experiment.

This picture is one day after we started. You can see the colors moving up the paper towel and adding a little color to the middle cup.

This is the end of the experiment when the color moved from the primary cups on the side to create the secondary color in the middle. The kids were so excited about this. Every day they would look at the cups to see how they changed!

For  the color yellow we created a bus. The kids had to work on their fine motor skills to cute the shapes for the bus. we talked about what each shape was and how many of each shape we needed. Them they got to write bus on it!

We read a Pete the Cat story about his colored shoes. He goes through all kinds of adventures that turn his shoes different colors.

After we read the book, we sequenced the events in the story. They told me what happened next in the story and we wrote what color it turned his shoes. I was so impressed how well they remembered the events in the story.

We made a few graphs this week about different colors. This graph was the colors we were wearing that day. We also talked about which had the most and which had the least.

We got to do our first journal writing today! Some of the kids were a little nervous and said they couldn't do it. I encouraged them to keep trying and they all did a wonderful job. We talked about capital letters at the beginning of the sentence. We practice putting our finger space in between words as well. They copied all the words off a paper I wrote on, but did a great job writing lowercase letters. Then they drew a picture of something in their favorite color!
