Letter K week and Letter B week

We tried this wonderful new app where the kids can draw something and then record their voice on it. Below is an example of us doing some math problems at one of our centers. If you click on the picture, you can hear the student explaining how they solved the problem. I wish I could have put them all on here, I just didn't have enough room.

Below is our class using the large number line to solve math problems. One person at a time jumped on the number line to solve the problem while everyone else wrote it on their white board. They loved doing the jumping!

We also used our white boards to sound out words. I would give them a word and they would write down the sounds they hear in that word. It made for great practice and great conversations about letters and how they work together.

We had a listening center where they got to listen to books on tape.

This is one of the activities I love to do to help them practice their sight words. The read the word, stamp the word, and then write the word. They love it!

In class we talked about being honest. We talked about how it can be hard to be honest sometimes, but that people need to be honest if they want to people to trust them. We also talked about the boy who cried wolf. Then we wrote in our journals a time we could be honest.

The one above says I am honest when there's an accident (she's spilling something.) The one below say I am honest when I push a friend.

Our AM class won a party for selling the most butterbraids earlier this year. They got to make two art projects. Thanks to the PTO for providing the party for our class!

We made a making 10 rainbow to show the kids the different combinations of making 10. It was great for our visual learners.

We used blocks for our math during b week. They got to use them to solve addition and subtraction problems.

One of our math centers was using the math mats to set out bears or dinosaurs. they used them to solve the problem on the card the picked. they did an awesome job.

They also got to use the magnetic letters to sound out words. The word below is a student who sounded out balloon.

We made a Mr. Potato Head. then they labeled where the five senses are on the potato head!

I love to watch the kids read together. They have come so far this year! It's great to see their confidence and excitement about learning@
